Pain Management and Health Related Problems
It is said that at any given time, around one third of Australians are in PAIN! Chronic Pain is defined as pain that persists for longer than three months and it can be a very debilitating experience for suffers. It has been our experience that effective pain management requires an interdisciplinary approach blending conventional and complementary therapies to ease the suffering and improve the quality of life of those living with pain.
The Psychological approach to managing pain is:
– Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy – CBT
– Biofeedback and
– Hypnotherapy
In addition to the above, we also offer SCENAR Therapy, a reflex biofeedback method that is drug free and non-invasive. It assists in pain management and relief in all types of disorders, whether they be: circulatory, respiratory, neurological, genitourinary, endocrine, musculoskeletal, immune, gastrointestinal and even psychological discomfort.
Studies suggest that a person’s outlook and the way they emotionally cope with chronic pain influences their quality of life. Therefore those people who learn self-management skills lower the levels of pain they feel. So it is important to learn these skills and to deal with the associated stress and depression in constructive ways.
Pain can sometimes be resolved promptly once the underlying trauma or pathology has healed. However, effective management of long term pain, requires a coordinated effort to ease the suffering and improve the quality of life of those living with pain.
